The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday.

The Board appointed Jen Clemetson to fill the vacancy left by Christine Stiles. Clemetson and Jill Gerling both expressed interest in filling the vacancy out of Dexter. Clemetson will serve until the next set of elections in November of 2019, at which point she can run to fill the remaining two years of the four-year term.

The Council also briefly discussed the District’s athletic trainer agreement. Business Manager Symantha Crawford tells Raccoon Valley Radio this was just a preliminary overview for the Board’s benefit, and no concrete numbers or measures were discussed. No formal action was taken on the topic. They also formally approved the annual usage of a bus and driver for activities with the WCV Rec Club. Other action items approved include: annual resolutions, Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) legislative priorities, and Board policy.

The meetings will continue in the music room at West Central Valley High School in Stuart for August and September. Crawford says they will continue to assess whether this change in location will be a long-term decision.
