panoraPanora’s summertime tradition is just two weeks away. The 2018 Panorama Days will feature plenty of classic events, and some new ones, Friday, August 3-Sunday, August 5.

The cribbage tournament kicks off the weekend on Friday at 2pm at the Community Center. Vendors open at 4 and the popular CHALK the Block begins at 4:30. The evening also includes: Cruise the Loop, musical entertainment, the 5k Fun Run, the Bill Riley Talent Show, and the inaugural crowning of Little Miss/Mister Panorama. The night concludes with fireworks.

The Bass Fishing Tournament begins Saturday’s slate, starting at 5:30am at the Lake Panorama Marina. A pancake breakfast will also be served at the Community Center from 7am-12:30pm. The Panorama Days Parade begins at 10:30am down Main Street. Saturday’s activities continue throughout the day, including: the Kid Zone and laser tag, human foosball and bags tournaments, the annual beef burger meal, and the Lake Panorama Ski Show.

A new event will be featured on Sunday. The first ever BBQ Contest will be from 8am-5pm, with tasting at 3:30pm, at the Town Square. Panorama Days Coordinator Chaille Crandall explains how the committee came up with the contest. “Kellie and Tom Flanery have volunteered their time and they are involved in smoking and have friends that smoke meat. So it’s something that they feel comfortable with and wanted to put on. They’ve done a really great job getting sponsors to help with it and I think it’s going to be a really well-put together event.”

The weekend concludes with an outdoor movie at the Lakeside Village, starting around 9:15pm on Sunday. To hear more about this year’s Panorama Days, listen to Crandall on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
