Over half the times West Central Valley junior Cole Arnburg came to the plate during this summer, he recorded a hit for the Wildcat varsity baseball team. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network hosted West Central Valley head baseball coach Justin Keck on last night’s Guthrie County PM Sports Page program for an end of season interview. Among the highlights from the season, Keck shared was Arnburg’s ability to put the ball in play. “I believe he got the hit record for the school; I believe he also got the batting average record for the school,” Keck said, “He might even have the top batting average in (Class) 2A (baseball) this year. It’s always fun to see kids hit and have success.”

Arnburg ended the season with 54 hits in 99 at bats, a batting average of .545. He also topped West Central Valley with 37 runs scored, 23 stolen bases and finished second on the team with 22 runs batted in. The West Central Valley baseball team finishes the 2018 season with a 12-15 overall record. Arnburg is one of three juniors on the roster expected to be back next summer.
