Saturday marked the end of another baseball season at Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will look back today at some of the team numbers recorded in 29 varsity games played by the Tiger baseball team this summer. ADM finished seventh in the Raccoon River Conference standings with a record of three wins and 11 losses. Of those conference setbacks, seven were by two runs or less.

Among ADM’s strengths was the Tigers pitching, posting a team earned run average of 4.16. ADM fanned 202 batters this season compared to 40 walks, a strikeout to walk ratio of 5.1:1. Fielding was another story for ADM as they finished with the third-most field errors in the league with 66 in 807 chances. Tiger catchers threw out seven runs in 45 chances. ADM did struggle offensively at times, registering a team batting average of .265. ADM tied three other leagues schools for last place in the conference with three total home runs. The Tigers did force 113 total walks at the plate, the second most recorded in the Raccoon River Conference.

The 2018 ADM Tiger baseball season concluded in Grinnell Saturday evening, losing 4-2 to the Tigers in the opener of the Class 3A District 14 tournament. ADM graduate eight seniors off this year’s squad.
