Greene County was a 3-1 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball winner in Gilbert on Friday night. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team swept the two-game series with the Tigers and broke a four game losing streak. Greene County is now 4-11 on the season and 4-5 in the conference and the girls play today in State Center at the West Marshall tournament.

Senior Samantha Hardaway was the winning pitcher. She went the first five innings and allowed one run on three hits with no walks and one strikeout. Junior Jenna Beyers picked up the save by going the last two frames. She gave up one hit, no walks and no strikeouts.

The Rams had six hits including a Hardaway double that drove in a run. Megan Carey singled twice with one hit each for Danielle Hoyle, Lily Muir, and Beyers. Muir and Beyers each drove in a run.
