The Perry baseball team shook off seven errors and a forty five minute lightning delay to defeat ADM 7-6 in Raccoon River Conference baseball. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before lightning caused a delay in the bottom of the second inning. Spencer Collins connected for a two-run home run in the top of the first inning while ADM scored three more unearned runs in the top of the 2nd following three Perry errors.
The game changed in the bottom of the fourth inning as Perry sent 12 batters to the plate and scored all seven of their runs. The Bluejays took advantage of three walks and two hit batters by ADM starter Matthew West. Aaron Lockwood had one of the two hits in the inning with a two-run single followed by a RBI double for Kato Dougan.
Alexis Garrido picked up the win for Perry while Austin Carpenter earned the save retiring all eight batters he faced, wiping out a Tiger scoring threat in the fifth inning. Garrido struck out seven in the victory.
Perry improves to 4-2 in the conference while ADM falls to 0-5. Perry will travel to Saydel tonight for a non-conference game while ADM host Carlisle.
