Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently appointed a new judge for District 5A, which includes Dallas and Guthrie counties.
On Thursday, Reynolds announced she had named Michael Jacobsen of Newton as the replacement for retiring Judge Paul Huscher. Jacobsen got his undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University, and then received his law degree from Drake University in Des Moines. Most recently, he has served at the Jasper County Attorney. Huscher, who was appointed as a District 5A judge in 1997, announced his retirement last month.
The 5A Judicial District encompasses Dallas, Guthrie, Madison, Jasper, Marion, and Warren counties.
