Dewey Field Renovation

Generosity continues to flow from the residents of Perry in support of the Dewey Field renovation, as recently there have been two large donations towards the project.

Last week, the Einck family of Perry offered the school a check for $25,000, and on Monday another $25,000 was donated by Tyson Foods. They became the third and fourth entities to give $25,000 or more to the renovation project, following the footsteps of Raccoon Valley Bank, and the Van Kirk family. Superintendent Clark Wicks says every donation, great and small, has been very helpful for the District’s fundraising efforts, and he’s hoping with their next push even more money will come in. “You think about Perry, you think about all of the support that we’ve had. We really, really appreciate that, that we have that kind of connection and people are connected to the Blue Jays and the Jayettes. Hopefully we’ll be able to raise a few more thousand dollars from our alumni that are still connected to the Perry Blue Jays.”

The recent donations bring the total funds raised to more than $213,000. Wicks says they have a goal of $250,000 so they can feel secure in the project, but their ultimate fundraising goal for phase one is $300,000. The next phase of fundraising is marketing the project to alumni, which is being spearheaded by Booster Club member Martha Stetzel with help from a local business.
