The Greene County Development Corporation met Tuesday for their monthly session.

The meeting began with the introduction of Peoples Bank’s new Chief Operating Officer John Rigler III. He said his family, who also owns State Bank in northeast Iowa, is interested in purchasing New Market Tax Credits to help with incentives for housing developers to build homes in rural areas like Greene County.

During reports, Greene County Medical Center CEO Carl Behne said the new 3D Mammography machine is installed and is being used. He also announced that their annual golf outing is scheduled for July 27th as the last part of the fundraiser for the new equipment. He mentioned that he has had discussions with the Greene County Supervisors about the transition of ambulance services, with no definite solution established yet.

GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton then gave his report. He said two new businesses have purchased lots in their east business park along US Highway 30. Plots of surveys are being done on the other lots to make them available for purchase as well. He also noted that he is working to provide information and signage to the empty, available buildings in the downtown square in Jefferson. He plans to have that information ready by the time the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) stops in Jefferson on July 23rd.
