severe thunderstormA round of severe weather hit the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area early Monday morning.

At 1:37am, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for northwestern Madison and Adair Counties, southwestern Dallas County, and Guthrie County. At that time a severe thunderstorm was located over Guthrie Center, moving southeast at 40 miles-per-hour. Wind gusts of up to 60 miles-per-hour and hail up to penny size were indicated hazards with the storm.

On the ground, there was a report of a lightning strike in Dallas Center. There was no other significant damage reported in the listening area. Though heavy rain could contribute to flash flooding in the area, particularly Dallas and Greene counties. Three members of the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team, along with a meteorologist from Weather Eye provided coverage of the severe weather.

This could be the first of many storms to enter the area today. So as always, listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio network for the latest storm conditions, road reports, and any cancellations or delays. The one to count on for coverage of severe weather is the Raccoon Valley Radio network.
