Rep-David-Young-HeadshotPresident Donald Trump’s recent withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Agreement has brought several countries to the negotiating table once again in middle eastern foreign policy. While many global politicians, particularly in the European Union, hope to save the deal, some are backing Trump’s decision. That includes U.S. Congressman David Young.

Young was against the deal from the very beginning. “Iran is the number one sponsor of state terrorism. So from the beginning I supported the decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, to not even get in it. We had several votes to try to impose some pretty harsh sanctions. Now it looks like the President (Trump) is going to reimpose some sanctions. Hopefully we can work with our allies: France, Germany, other European nations to get to a better deal at some point.”

Iran is currently working with the European Union to try and offset U.S. sanctions imposed by Trump. To hear more on this and other topics from Washington, listen to Young on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
