ADM Tigers

The 2018 regular season got off to a positive start this week for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers baseball and softball teams. Both squads posted back-to-back wins to begin this year’s campaign, including last night registering two victories against the Des Moines Roosevelt Roughriders. The Tiger baseball jumped out to an early lead on Des Moines Roosevelt on their way to a 6-2 win. ADM plated single runs in the first and second innings and two in the fourth. The Tigers added two more in the fifth inning. Junior Joe Finnegan continues his hot offensive start, registering two hits with two runs scored, and two runs batted in. Seniors Grant Curran and Nick Lindgren and junior Logan Crannell each recorded one run batted in each. Nick Dufoe earns the win on the mound, throwing six innings of two-run baseball. Dufoe walked a pair of Roughrider batters and struck out five. ADM improves to 2-0 with the win and returns home tonight for a nonconference game against the Earlham Tigers.

The Tiger softball needed one extra inning to top Roosevelt, 3-2. ADM scored single runs in the second, fifth, and eight innings. Sophomore Abbie Hlas went all eight innings in the circle, allowing two earned runs off of six hits, walking two batters and fanning nine others. She helped herself offensively with a pair of hits, including a double, and scoring one run. Her twin sister, Emily Hlas, recorded an RBI single along with sophomore Emma McAdon. The Tiger softball team makes their 2018 broadcast debut tonight on True Country K 107.9 as ADM makes the long bus trip to Carroll for a Raccoon River Conference game versus the Tigers. The ADM Softball Pregame Show starts our coverage around 6:45 p.m. from Carroll High School.
