The public is encouraged to attend a special open house in Jefferson tonight.

The Greene County Construction and Interior Design students are hosting the event at the newly built house located at 204 East Wilcox Way. Superintendent Tim Christensen hopes a lot of people can make it.

“We’ll have an open house from 5 to 7pm at the student construction house. (I) Invite people to come out to that. The Kiwanis Club of Jefferson will also be grilling during that event. So I encourage people to come out to take a look at the house and have a hamburger.”

The 1,280-square-foot home includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms with an attached garage and basement. Instructor Chad Morman said the class began with 12 students and they were very involved with the project. Morman notes that the target listing price of the house is between $140,000 to $170,000. The students also helped with the demolition and design work for the upper story apartment of the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency building on the northside of the square in Jefferson.

The open house is a come and go event.
