national weather serviceThe National Weather Service has downgraded the likelihood of severe weather for the rest of the day today.

The National Weather Service has shifted Dallas, Guthrie and Adair counties to a slight risk, while Greene County remains at a marginal risk for severe weather. The primary possible hazards still include: damaging winds and hail, with the potential for more rainfall. There’s also the possibility of flash flooding locally as heavy rainfall occurs. Our primary coverage area is also at a slight risk for excessive rainfall later today. The main threat is still expected to be between 3 and 11pm.

Anytime there’s a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning issued for Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage with road conditions, weather updates and other public safety information. We are in constant contact with our emergency management coordinators, local law enforcement and other public officials during each severe weather incident.
