A Scranton man faces charges following an alleged burglary incident.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says he and a deputy responded to a business alarm at the Casey’s General Store in Scranton around 3:14am Monday. They spotted 55-year-old Johnnie Jackson leaving the gas station as they arrived on scene. Jackson then reportedly tried to hide in the bushes. Once he was found, Williams says Jackson fought them at the scene and then again fought with authorities after he was transported to the law enforcement center.

Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it appears Jackson threw a brick into the glass door to gain entry into the building. Jackson reportedly stole cigarettes, cigars and beer. Jackson was charged with a Class D Felony for third degree burglary and misdemeanors for fourth degree theft, criminal mischief and interference with official acts.

Jackson was booked and later released from the Greene County Jail on his own recognizance.  Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
