Perry pitchers walked nine batters Monday night as Roland Story defeated Perry 6-2 in the season and home opener at Progressive Field. The Norsemen never trailed scoring at least one run in the first three innings. Perry outhit the Norse 7 to 6 but missed a couple of suicide squeeze plays and had another runner thrown out at home trying to score on a passed ball. Austin Carpenter took the loss struggling with his control. The senior allowed four earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. Alexis Garrido struck seven batter after pitching 2 1/3 innings of relief. Kaleb Olejniczak led the offense finishing 3-4 while Gavin Boyer added a RBI triple while Aaron Lockwood provided a double.
Perry will travel to North Polk tonight for a 730 varsity game in Alleman.
