The regular season for the first year Greene County High School boys’ soccer team ends today in Grand Junction. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams are 9-7 on the season and one more win will clinch a willing season. North Polk (Alleman) is today’s opponent and the Comets have played just nine matches, but are 8-1 with the lone loss by 2-0 to top 10 ranked Gilbert. One of Greene County’s losses is by a 1-0 score at Gilbert in April.

Brazilian foreign exchange student Leo Marques continues to be the second leading goal scorer in all of Iowa high school boys’ soccer with 31 goals. Marques has played 15 matches.

After hosting the Comets, all that remains on the schedule for the Rams is the Class 1A postseason. Greene County plays in Denison on Monday, 21 at 5 p.m. in a Substate 1 first round match vs. Unity Christian (Orange City). The Knights have a 2-10 record with one regular season match remaining.
