The Perry Fiber Art Fair will be making its triumphant return soon, and the City will once again be draped in yarn.
Organizer Jenny Eklund says last year’s event was a huge success, and she believes this year’s will be even bigger. So far there are 14 artists taking part, and their work will be displayed at La Poste, Perry Perk, the Citizens Bank Gallery, and Betsy Peterson Designs. Eklund says there will also be quilting demonstrations and exhibits, as well as an assortment of food. However, the most visible aspect of the event will be spread throughout the downtown area, with decorative warmers knitted and crocheted by volunteers once again covering hundreds of light poles, benches, and bike racks.
One new thing for this year is they’ve also decorated hula hoops with yarn, which will be placed in Josh Davis Plaza. Eklund is hopeful they can build on the success of last year’s event, and make it a fair to remember. “It’s just a wonderful, exciting event. And I think what really gets it exciting is how we color the town in yarn. And then all the wonderful artists that we have coming, and of course food always brings people in. So we’re just hoping for a beautiful day, and (I) just love visiting with people and showing off the art!”
The Fiber Art Fair will be held on Saturday, May 12th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. To learn more about the event, click the link below to listen to the Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Eklund.
