The Perry baseball team will open the season at home tonight in a 7:00 varsity game against Roland Story. It will be a very young and inexperienced Perry squad for the most part after losing some top talent to graduation a year ago. Perry returns only two pitchers with Alexis Garrido and Austin Carpenter while other focusing on finding more arms was a priority the past couple of weeks. Perry announced last week that junior varsity games will only go three or four innings due to the lack of pitching arms for Perry. The Bluejays should be strong in the outfield with the return of Kaleb Olejniczak and utility player Brandon Kenyon. Gavin Boyer is back behind the plate for Perry. Perry finished 7-21 a year ago and tonight’s season opener can be heard on KDLS with Shawn Kenney and former Northern Illinois Director of Baseball Operations Chris Carlson.
