ADM Tigers

Game one of the season saw solid plate discipline on the part of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers baseball team Monday night. As heard live on True Country K 107.9, the KKRF mobile app, and raccoonvalleyradio.com, the Tigers welcomed the Interstate 35 Roadrunners to Adel for a season-opening contest. ADM tallied 13 walks at the plate last night as the Tigers defeated the Roadrunners, 9-4. Eight of ADM’s nine starting players recorded at least one base on balls and five walking twice in the game. During the Fullers Petroleum Postgame Show, ADM head baseball coach Jason Book spoke about how the team has worked on good at-bats during preseason practice. “What’s your plan, what kind of a pitch are you trying to attack and adjusting that pitch by pitch,” Book said, “Whatever the count is, whatever the pitcher is throwing, trying to pick up tendencies.”

Leading 4-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame, busting the game open with a five-run inning. ADM recorded four walks in the half inning and a pair of two RBI doubles for junior Joe Finnegan and senior Grant Curran. The victory improves ADM’s overall record to 1-0. The Tigers hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Des Moines Roosevelt for a nonconference matchup. First pitch of the varsity game is set for 5:30 p.m. due to no lights at Des Moines Roosevelts baseball fields.
