The sophomore leader on the Panorama boys golf team will vie for an individual state championship next week in Marshalltown. The Panorama boys golf team hosted one of the Class 2A District Golf tournaments Friday at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora. The 18 hole event featured golfers from seven regional schools. Panorama sophomore Kolby Shackelford topped the entire field with a two-under 70, winning meet medalist by three strokes over Earlham’s Ben Clement. The Panthers fell one spot short of sending the full team to state, taking third place with 355. PCM is the district champion with 326 points, and Des Moines Christian clinched the final state qualifying spot with a runner-up score of 338. The Class 2A State Golf Tournament is held May 24-25 at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
