dallas law enforcement center

The new Dallas County Law Enforcement Center continues to progress well, and at a recent meeting, the Board of Supervisors received an update on the project.

Jerry Purdy from Design Alliance went over an assortment of information about the center, including the contingency log. Purdy said with that tool, he, the Samuels Group, and County Operations Director Rob Tietz are able to keep track of all change orders and requests, and potentially move funds around as needed. Currently there is $960,000 in the contingency fund. Purdy also presented the third pay application submitted by the Samuels Group, which included funds paid to seven different contractors for just over $1 million. The Supervisors approved the pay application.

As far as the actual construction of the facility was concerned, Purdy said they had been pouring concrete slabs throughout the week, which is exciting because it’s something visual the public can see to inform them of the progress. He added, they would also be starting on some masonry work during the week. Purdy concluded the update by saying the contractors have been slowed a bit by recent weather, but everything is still progressing as planned. The estimated completion date is currently late July or early August of 2019.
