The Greene County Medical Center highlights its own Long Term Care Unit as one of its best services in the community. Chief Nurse Executive Katie Heldt applauds the efforts that the entire staff does to help the residents of Long Term Care.

“The nurses, nurse’s aids, and the universal workers up there, that culture is all about what is best for our residents. We have really done a nice job of individualizing resident rooms as home-like as it can be, because it is their home and we respect that.”

Heldt adds that they also work with the families of the residents to provide as much access to them as possible.

“I know that (Director of Long Term Care) Lori Harrah’s door is always open, as is anyone else up there. Feel free to come and ask questions that’s what we’re here for. We like to hear what’s going well, but we also like to make improvements that we need to make. It’s like I always say, ‘We can’t fix what we don’t know.’ We encourage that family involvement as much as possible.”
