A fire Monday evening destroyed multiple farm buildings on a property just south of Guthrie Center.

Emergency crews were called to the home of Margie Readinger at 2471 270th Street just after 7pm. Readinger, who has lived on the property her entire life, tells Raccoon Valley Radio she had just woken up from a nap when she saw the barn and other farm buildings burning in her backyard.

Neighbors responded first, followed by the Guthrie Center, Menlo, and Stuart fire departments. No one was injured and there were no livestock in the buildings that are now a considered a total loss. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
