West Central Valley Wildcat

One week ago today the high school boys golf career of West Central Valley senior Garrett Caltrider came to an end. The Wildcats boys golf team hosted last week’s Class 2A sectional golf tournament at the 5 x 80 golf course in Menlo. West Central Valley’s final team score wasn’t among the top two lowest in their grouping, eliminating the Wildcats from postseason competition. Caltrider is the only graduation loss the Wildcats will endure this offseason. West Central Valley head boys golf coach Dave Doely taped a season wrapup interview with the Raccoon Valley Radio Tuesday afternoon and said Caltrider will be tough to replace. “He was our best stick, he was our leader, our captain,” Doely said, “We went as far as he took us. It’s good for the younger kids and inexperienced golfers to see someone who’s dedicated his last few years here to golf.”

Caltrider finished his final high school golf season with a 41.44 stroke average in nine-hole events and had a median 18 hole score of 84.3 shots. Hear Doely’s season wrap up interview on the next Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page, Monday at 6 p.m. on True County, K 107.9.
