The softball career of Adel-Desoto-Minburn senior Ashley Tennant will continue at an in-state community college next year. Tennant shared with the Raccoon Valley Radio Network at Tuesday practice that she’s joining the Des Moines Area Community College Bears softball program upon finishing her final high school season. Tennant adds former ADM pitcher Molly Jacobsen played a role in her choosing DMACC. “She introduced me to the coaches, told me how she liked it, and it really made me want to go there because of how well she was doing there.”

Tennant also shares she’s in the process of changing positions this summer. “Leading up to my senior year, I’ve always been a third baseman for (ADM),” Tennant said, “This year I show up, and Coach (Dillinger) said ‘hey we need you to (play catcher),’ We want you to catch. So I’ve put on the gear, and I’m trying to figure (the position) out.”

Opening day of the ADM softball season is this Monday against the Saydel Eagles. The ADM Student Spotlight returns during baseball and softball broadcasts this summer on True Country K 107.9. Hear Tennant’s student spotlight during ADM softballs broadcast opener next Wednesday evening against the Carroll Tigers.
