For most high school seniors, this weekend’s Iowa State High School Track and Field Meet is the final time they’ll compete at Drake Stadium’s infamous Blue Oval. That isn’t the case for Adel-Desoto-Minburn senior Keaton Kester, who’ll join the Drake Women’s Track and Field program as a sprinter upon graduation later this month. Kester is a defending two-time state champion in the 100 and 200-meter dash, winning the Class 2A title with the Earlham Cardinals in 2015 and the Class 3A championship last spring with the Tigers. Last year’s 100 meter dash race time of 12.08 seconds stands as state meet record. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with Kester after practice Tuesday afternoon, and she says she’s thrilled for whats to come after this weekend. “I’m super excited at the fact that this is almost the beginning of my track and field career and to run collegiate track,” Kester said, “It’s such a blessing, and I’m super excited to see what happens.”

Kester begins her final Iowa State Track and Field Meet tomorrow afternoon in the preliminary race of the 200-meter dash around 4:30 p.m. She’ll return to competition around 6:35 p.m. later that evening.
