ADM Tigers

A disappointing postseason result last spring has changed the outlook of this year’s Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys soccer team. Senior captain Gage Fuller told the Raccoon Valley Radio Network last week the Tigers entered last year’s tournament opener with Bondurant-Farrar anticipating a rematch against a Raccoon River Conference rival in the next round. “We were more focused on the Substate Final, which would have been (that) Saturday against Perry we assumed,” Gage Fuller said, “Our heads weren’t really there (against Bondurant-Farrar) is something I would say, I don’t know (if my teammates) would agree with me.”

One, eighty-minute match derailed what was a promising campaign for the Tigers, falling 2-1 to the Bluejays in the substate semifinal in Adel. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network was on hand for ADM’s 1-0 regular season finale victory over the Indianola Indians last Thursday and spoke to the senior captains after the match about the upcoming postseason tournament. Due to last year’s results, Ethan Meyer says the Tigers are adjusting to a new, game by game type mindset. “Last year, we were too relaxed, and we thought we already had everything,” Meyer said, “This year, we have to go game by game. The only game we have left in our senior season is Wednesday.”

ADM’s opponent revealed itself Monday evening when the cooperative program of Iowa Falls Alden/AGWSR defeated the Ballard Bombers, 2-0, in Gilbert. The victory improved Iowa Falls Alden/AGWSR’s overall record to 8-9. The Tigers, the 2018 Raccoon River Conference regular season champions, post a 14-3 overall record and bring a six-game winning streak into tonight’s playoff opener. Kickoff starts at 5 p.m. tonight at ADM Stadium in Adel.
