ADM Tigers

The ballfields at Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools will be busy tonight as competition for the Tigers baseball and softball teams gets underway. The ADM softball team welcomes the Saydel Eagles to Adel for a nonconference seven-inning contest. The Tigers are coming off a 19-17 campaign a season ago while the Eagles won 17 games and lost 17 games last summer. First pitch of the varsity contest is set for 7:30 p.m. at ADM Softball Field #1.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will be at the ADM Baseball Field #1 announcing the Tigers opening night game against the Interstate 35 Roadrunners. ADM posted an 18-14 record last summer while I 35 registered a 19-6 mark. The Tigers handed the Roadrunners one of their six losses a season ago, 8-2, on May 25 in Truro. ADM brings back four starters from last year’s game against Interstate 35, including last year’s winning pitcher in senior Dalton Hews. ADM head baseball coach Jason Book tapped his initial pregame interview of the season with Raccoon Valley Radio Friday evening. He said last years squad bounced back nicely from a 3-29 campaign in 2016. “We had a great group of kids who bought into what we were trying to do and what we needed to do,” Book said, “We were a little bit more athletic last year than the year before and those same guys got to play (varsity) two-thirds of the season the year before. So it wasn’t brand new to them coming into the season last year.”

The pregame show starts after the conclusion of the Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page at 7 p.m., and first pitch is around 7:30 p.m. from ADM Baseball Field #1 in Adel.
