A West Des Moines man was arrested on several charges after leading officers on a high-speed chase around Adel Sunday afternoon.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, just before 1 p.m., the Adel Police Department attempted to pull over a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Austin Robert Riseley-Duchin for not having a license plate displayed. The Sheriff’s Office got involved after the suspect feigned a traffic stop in the 25000 block of Highway 6, and instead headed back into Adel, going speeds exceeding 110 miles per hour. A chase ensued through the City, before eventually going west out of town on Old Highway 6.

A short time later, the suspect wound up going into a ditch in the 34000 block of Old Highway 6, but appeared to suffer no injuries. Riseley-Duchin was taken into custody and admitted he was eluding law enforcement because he did not have a valid motorcycle licence. He was arrested on several misdemeanor charges, including: failure to have a valid license; three counts of speeding, over 20 miles per hour over; no insurance; unsafe passing; eluding; and eight counts of failure to obey a stop sign.

He was booked and released from the Dallas County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it’s made official.
