Perry High School

The annual Perry High School prom will be held this Saturday, and students and their dates are invited to an “Evening at the Carnival.”

The night will start off with the grand march at 5 p.m. in the high school auditorium, which the public is invited to attend. There will also be photographers at the grand march to take individual and class pictures. Following that, attendees will caravan to the Lake Panorama Conference Center for a dinner and dance. Organizer Martha Stetzel says the trip to Panora is something new they’re trying this year, and she believes it will give the students an unforgettable experience. “We’re really excited about this new venue. It is a very elegant venue, and I think for a lot of kids this is going to be one of the first times they’re going to be able to maybe sit down for a meal with some cloth napkins and tablecloths. We feel like it’s going to be a really great event, so yeah we’re looking to have a great time!”

In addition to the dinner, there will be music, two photo booths and a candy table. The dance will run from 7:15-11:30. Attendees will then have an hour to change clothes and get back to Perry for the post prom party at the high school, which will run from 12:30-4 a.m. Sunday. The featured performer will be Iowa comedian Willie Farrell, not to be confused with actor Will Ferrell. Other activities include carnival games, prizes, and laser tag in the middle school gym. There will also be food, including walking tacos, corn dogs, pretzels and cheese, popcorn, and spin art caramel apples.

Cost for the event is $35 per person, which will pay for dinner and food at after prom, all activities, and a t-shirt. Tickets can be purchased in the high school office.
