Adel Library

The Adel Police Department and the Rotary Club of Adel are partnering to host an event that they believe will be both fun and educational for kids.

On Saturday, May 5th, they will be hosting the first-ever Bike Safety Rodeo at the Adel City Hall parking lot. Children ages 5-8 and their families are invited to bring their bicycles and helmets to learn about safe riding practices, while also taking part in an assortment of activities. Police officers will inspect bikes and helmets and then send kids through a safety obstacle course. Those who complete the course will get a certificate of completion, bike safety information, a Rotary keychain flashlight, and a bottle of water.

Other activities include tours of a police car and fire engine, meet and greets with police officers and firefighters, a display of books about bicycles in the library, and an opportunity to ride on the nearby Raccoon River Valley Trail. The Bike Rodeo will run from 9 a.m. – noon on May 5th. The event is free, and attendees can come and go as they please. For more information, contact Shirley McAdon at 515-993-4862.
