Jefferson PoliceA Jefferson teen was arrested and faces a felony for burglary from a weekend incident.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, just after 4am Saturday, an officer responded to the call of an intruder in the garage of a residence in the 500 block of Hickory Lane. The caller said her husband was in the garage struggling with the alleged intruder. Chief Mark Clouse says when the officer arrived on scene, the two were wrestling outside the garage, and the husband was restraining the intruder until the officer took the intruder into custody.

Clouse notes that the intruder was the same alleged suspect who on April 6th had reportedly stole thousands of dollars in cash from a vehicle at the same residence. Following the April 6th incident, Clouse says the victim installed a motion sensor device inside the garage. During the most recent incident on Saturday, the device set off a bell in the victim’s bedroom alerting him that someone was inside the garage. The victim told police that he saw the intruder inside a vehicle.

Clouse says a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for second degree burglary from the Saturday incident. Clouse adds that additional charges are pending completion of the investigation. The teen was transported to a juvenile detention hall after he was taken into custody.
