GGCGC Donation to RAGBRAIGrow Greene County Gaming Corporation recently surprised an organization with a large donation check.

During a planning session for the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI), GGCGC surprised the advisory committee with a $20,000 check. GGCGC Board Member Brenda Muir talks about why they wanted to give money when RAGBRAI makes an overnight stop in Jefferson.

“It’s exciting that RAGBRAI is coming. Grow Greene County wanted to help them have a successful event. We know that Hairball will be a big draw from around and we can showcase our county that way.”

Grow Greene County recently held their annual grant awards night earlier this month in which they gave away $1.1 million. However, Muir says they will sometimes give out extra funds.

“We have done it a couple of times. It usually has been a fall donation. Once for Adopt-A-Family and some other worthy causes, charitable causes in the fall. We decided to do a spring one this year.”

The money will be used for Hairball, who is the evening main stage act during the overnight stop on July 23rd.
