Dallas Co Supervisors 3-27

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

A large portion of the meeting was devoted to the County Attorney’s Office. First, the Board approved a $300 settlement between the County and Peters Service Center in Perry for a tobacco sale violation. The action removed the necessity of holding a scheduled public hearing on May 8th. Next, County Attorney Wayne Reisetter outlined possibly using his office’s threshold money to fund cold case investigations. The Supervisors were receptive to the idea and will officially consider it at a later meeting when a budget amendment is proposed.

Following that, the Board approved a design services proposal with AECOM for parking lot rehabilitation. The County is wanting to resurface the lot outside the Department of Motor Vehicles building, and completely redo the lot for the Elections Office. Other items that were approved included: a request by Wyffels Hybrids to use the County Farm and Human Services Campus for an FFA field day; the 2018 weed notice; a wetland mitigation credit purchase of .44 acres; and an out of state travel request for the Information Technology Department.

Additionally, the Board heard a brief update from Operations Director Rob Tietz about the new law enforcement center, where he brought up a potential need of a second entrance to the site to accommodate truck traffic. Finally, they held discussion on a Dallas County master plan, which will involve the mayors and councils from several cities. There will be a workshop with city representatives in the coming weeks.
