City of Perry

The 2018 Perry citywide Spring Clean-Up is coming, but it will be dramatically different this year.

In previous years, the City has done curbside collection for items residents wanted to get rid of. This year they will instead have people drop off items. The Public Works Department gave several reasons for the change, but the biggest one was it had become increasingly difficult to collect money from people for the service. Now, residents will bring everything they want to get rid of to the parking lot of Pattee Park on Saturday, May 5th from 8 a.m. – noon, and they will pay the City on-site.

The fees for the Spring Clean-up are also a little different, and are based of how much can fit into certain vehicles. For a car load, which includes single items or loads contained in a car or small SUV, cost is $5. For loads that fit in a large SUV, minivan, or pickup truck, it will cost $15. Finally, large loads such as those brought in large trucks, passenger vans, flatbed trucks, or trailers, will cost $30 per load. There will also be a $10 charge for appliances, but the City encourages people to take advantage of the free appliance and scrap metal drop-off day on June 2nd. Payment must be made at the time of drop-off, and can be by cash or check.

Items not accepted include: televisions, computer monitors, tires, hazardous materials, batteries, paint cans, concrete, brush, or yard and garden waste. Additionally, if anyone is unable to deliver their unwanted items to the collection site, the City will pick the items up at any time throughout the year for an additional charge.
