Clel BaudlerThe 100th day has come and gone for the current Legislative Session in Des Moines. However, legislators across the state still have some work to take care of before heading home for the year. One of the final items on the docket is arguably the most important: the budget. Both chambers and Governor Kim Reynolds must concur on a budget amendment before exiting Des Moines.

District 20 Representative Clel Baudler hopes the budget will allocate more funds to law enforcement. “I would really like more money for the Iowa State Patrol (and) for justice systems. Yet I understand the problems that could create with the rest of the budget. We are going to have an academy this June, and all that will do will make us status quo. We won’t increase in numbers and we are way behind where we should be.”

Baudler emphasizes that possible tax cuts will be a considerable piece of budget discussions. He also addressed sales tax on products purchased online. To hear more from Baudler on this and other legislative topics, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
