ADM Youth Football Flyer

The parents of elementary students in the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community School District are encouraged to come to an informational meeting at the end of the month. The football coaching staff at ADM High School are implementing a unified progression for the program and will provide information for athletes as young as kindergarten to learn the game with age-appropriate skill development. The meeting will take place Sunday, April 29 in the ADM High School Auditorium beginning at 6 p.m.

Letter Regarding ADM’s Unified Football Program
Attention parents of children going into kindergarten-6th grade:

We are excited to invite you to a meeting on April 29, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will take place in the High School Auditorium. We are excited to announce a unified progression for the game of football at ADM. Since 1869, the game of football has changed very little. In fact, it has changed even less at the youth level. With the current model, kids and parents wishing to be involved in football are asked to make a choice when their child gets to 3rd grade: either play flag football or play tackle football. Those are the only options.

The goal of this new development progression is to ease kids into the game of football by implementing age appropriate skills each year along the way. With this model we are hoping to teach kids to love the game of football, while teaching safe playing techniques. The model we are going to follow will look like this:

K-2 – Local Flag Football (8 on 8)
3rd Grade – Traveling Flag Football with Soft Helmets (8 on 8)
4th Grade – Full Padded Flag Football (8 on 8)
5th Grade – Rookie Tackle Football (8 on 8)
6th Grade – Tackle Football (11 on 11)
7th Grade-12th Grade – Tackle Football Through School (11 on 11)

Starting this fall, these will be the football options available in Adel. We believe for the success of our football program as a whole it is vital that everyone is on the same page from Kindergarten through High School.

I hope to see you all at the meeting on April 29th. If you are interested in being part of youth football but unable to attend the meeting, please contact Jeff Flora Justin Reed, or myself (Coach Carter). We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Go Tigers!
