Rep-David-Young-HeadshotNorth Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un recently extended possible peace talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. While some see these developments as promising, others are remaining cautious. U.S. Congressman David Young is one of those individuals who is skeptical of the regime’s positive progress to peace.

Young shared his thoughts on possible improvements in diplomatic relations. “I’m hopeful, but I think we should be skeptical at the same time because of North Korea and their past. They’re not always willing to get to the table and do what they say and say what they mean. So any kind of talks would likely be drawn out, complicated, and difficult.”

Young mentioned he thinks diplomatic relations are the best way to curb North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. He also credited President Trump for convincing other nations including China and Japan to help limit the country’s nuclear capabilities.
