West Central Valley Wildcat

One of the quickest ways for a track and field relay team to get disqualified is by making a mistake during the baton exchange. West Central Valley boys track coach Eric Addy, and the Wildcats were back at practice Wednesday, working outside ahead of their season opener on Monday, March 26.

Addy said one of the primary emphasis in practice going forward is making sure they rep handoffs with their relay teams. “Yeah, we want to be the fastest, but especially in a relay standpoint, it doesn’t matter if we’re running low 20’s in the 200 or 11’s in the 100 if we can’t get the handoff right.” Addy said, “It’s going to slow us down a ton. (With us) going into pre-meet mode, it’s going to be us talking about handing the baton off.”
