iowa-state-patrolThe identity of the individual killed in Tuesday morning’s head-on collision near Menlo has been released. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 60-year-old Julie Compton of Bridgewater died at the scene of the crash. Compton was a passenger in the Ford Explorer driven by 34-year-old Serena Sims of Fontanelle.

According to the report, Sims was travelling south near mile marker 65 on Highway 25 when she lost control and crossed the centerline. She then struck a Buick Regal driven by 32-year-old David Nail of Corning, and came to rest on the east shoulder. Nail spun out and came to rest in the middle of the roadway facing north.

Nail sustained injuries and was taken to Adair County Memorial Hospital. Sims, along with another passenger in the Explorer, 34-year-old Julie Holmes of Bridgewater, were also injured and taken to ACMH.

There was a third vehicle involved in the crash, but the driver was unharmed. The conditions of those injured and the definitive cause of the wreck are still unknown at this time. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
