IMG_2216The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday. The Board began with a fiscal year 2019 budget workshop. The tax rate is tentatively ten cents higher than this past year, however that is subject to change. No formal action was taken on the workshop pending the public hearing.

During the regular meeting the Board officially approved Drew Stonewall as the next Co-Principal of Dexter Elementary. He will take over for Dr. David Arnold after he retires in June. Stonewall will share equal duties at both elementaries with current Stuart Elementary Principal Cory Wenthe. The Board also continued discussion on parking expansions at Dexter Elementary. The Board reviewed bids for various surface and expansion options, ranging from $45,000-388,000. No formal action was taken on this topic. Other action items approved include: an overnight trip request for the robotics team, an update to Board policy for nutrition, and approving Schwinger Lawn Services Inc. for mowing services at $1499.74.

The Board also approved changing next month’s meeting date to April 11th. The change was presented to accommodate budget timelines. The public hearing on the budget will begin at 6:30pm, followed by the regular meeting at 7.
