The third and final indoor track and field meet of the season is tomorrow in Storm Lake for the Greene County Rams. Coach Derek Merk’s girls and Coach Chad Morton’s boys both compete in the same meet for the first time this season when they take part in the Buena Vista University high school meet.

Both Greene County teams have been indoors for two other meets, the A.D. Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls, and the ISU High School Classic in Ames. In both cases, the girls competed on a Monday and the boys were on Tuesday. Saturday’s meet will have girls and boys competing in the same meet, much the same as most of the regular season meets the Rams will be in.

The high jump has been strong indoors so far for both the girls and boys, led by Megan Durbin, one of the top female high jumpers in the state. Kolin Reed and Carter Morton both are off to solid starts on the boys’ side. On the track, the coaches will get a better idea of who is capable of what once they get outdoors, but both head coaches have seen some running events that have shown potential.

The outdoor season for the Rams is slated to begin on Monday, March 26 in Jefferson at Linduska Field for the Greene County Early Bird Meet.
