Monday marked the first full practice of the season for the Panorama Panthers girls track team. Head coach Greg Thompson told Raccoon Valley Radio during the February 26th Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie Country PM Sports Page that he was giving his athletes a part of Panorama girls basketball all of last week off to transition sports seasons. He says nearly all of last years key contributors at the 2017 State Track and Field meet are returning to the track this spring.

Among the most decorated returners for the Panthers girls track team is senior Devyn Kemble, who’ll continue running track next year at Northwestern Community College in Orange City. Kemble, a multisport athlete at Panorama, qualified for the state meet in four events, two as an individual and two more as a member of a Panther relay team. She scored Panorama five team points at state with a fourth-place individual finish in the 400 final, clocking a quarter mile in 58.8 seconds. She also placed 10th overall in the 800 meter final, was the anchor of Panorama’s 15th place Sprint Medley team, and the Panthers disqualified 4×400 meter team.

Other returning state qualifiers for Panorama girls track includes Bailey Beckman, Morgan Johnk, and Lydia Knapp. The Panorama Panthers girls track team will head to Pella Saturday for the annual Central College High School Girls Track and Field meet.
