Not a lot of Greene County ninth grade boys qualify for the State Track & Field Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, but Colby Kafer did a season ago as a member of the Rams’ 4 x 100  meter relay. Kafer and three seniors ran on the Blue Oval and he would like to qualify for that event every season. He told Raccoon Valley Radio what the experience was like. “It was awesome! It was rainy running there that day, so it wasn’t as cool as it could have been, but it was still pretty cool. There were a lot of people watching.”

Kafer is also a long jumper as well as being a sprinter for Coach Chad Morton’s team. He and Carter Morton, also a sophomore, are the two returning members of the boys’ track & field squad at Greene County High School that participated in the 2017 Coed State Meet.

The Greene County girls and boys both have one more indoor meet on the schedule. It’s this Saturday in Storm Lake on the Buena Vista University campus. The outdoor season is scheduled to start in Jefferson at Linduska Field on March 26 for the Greene County Early Bird Coed Meet.
