The Cellar at La Poste was filled Friday evening with people attending a meet and greet with John Norris, a democratic candidate for Iowa Governor.

The Perry Area Democrats hosted the event, which also had appearances from two other local candidates. David Weaver of Rippey spoke first about his candidacy for Iowa House of Representatives, District 47. He talked about his background, his goals, and the people who motivated him to seek a seat at the State House. Next, Iowa House, District 20 candidate Warren Varley of Stuart spoke to the attendees. Varley also talked about his past and motivations for running for public office.

Varley then gave the floor to Norris, who grew up in rural southwest Iowa in a predominantly republican area. He took the attendees through his experience, which included working under former U.S. Senator Tom Harkin and former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. He outlined his priorities if elected, including repealing the Medicare privatization, improving school funding, and doing away with needless tax credits while keeping ones he feels are important. He then opened the floor to a question and answer segment. The event concluded with more social time, including food, music, and drinks.
