Chad FergusonA Jefferson man faces a felony charge for domestic abuse.

Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio they received an anonymous tip at 9:08pm Sunday, March 11th about a message from a female victim that she had been assaulted by her husband. An officer responded to the alleged incident in the 1100 block of North Maple Street. Clouse says as officers arrived on scene, the suspect was in the process of barricading himself inside the garage at the residence. The suspect had the overhead door screwed shut and was about to screw the side door shut when an officer spoke to the suspect. The suspect then tried to run back inside the garage when  the officer pushed through the door and made the arrested. Clouse adds that the suspect also took his wife’s cell phone and home phone with him to the garage to prevent her from calling law enforcement.

During the investigation, Clouse notes that the female victim was interviewed and she had markings that fit the description of the alleged abuse.

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Chad Ferguson faces a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault and two simple misdemeanors for interference with official acts and obstruction of emergency communications.

Ferguson was booked into the Greene County Jail.
