The athletic focus shifted to the spring sports season over two weeks ago at West Central Valley Community Schools in Stuart. Both Wildcat track programs are under the direction of a new leader this year with the girl’s team coached by Dave Hammond.

Hammond, an assistant for both Wildcat track programs for several years, says he’s had previous head coaching experience in the area. “I started coaching track with high school boys as Dexfield,” Hammond, “In the consolidation, I went to middle school and had several undefeated middle school teams who finished second and third at state.”

Hammond says he has 25 girls out for track this spring and is taking five girls to the 25th Annual Iowa State High School Classic hosted by the Iowa State University Track team this coming Monday.
