A Greene County High School student has been charged following an incident earlier this month.

Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse says a 16-year-old has been charged with a simple misdemeanor for third degree harassment. The charge stems from an alleged incident on March 1st. We previously reported that a high school student texted another high school student around 3:20pm, at the end of the school day, that someone was “shooting up the school.” The student that received the text was at a music event in Nevada and called the high school. However Superintendent Tim Christensen said at no time was anyone in danger and the text was not credible.

Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the charge was issued on March 5th and the teen was referred to Juvenile Court Services.

Raccoon Valley Radio reached out to Christensen about any disciplinary action, but he said it is the district’s policy to not share any disciplinary action.
