South Hamilton (Jewell) lost in the opening round of the Class 2A State Tournament earlier this week, meaning all Heart of Iowa Activities Conference teams have completed their seasons and All-Conference selections can be announced. Greene County tied for third place in the eight team league at 8-6 and was 12-11 overall for the Rams’ second straight winning season. Five Greene County players received all-conference recognition of some type, led by first team selections Wade Adcock and Trey Hinote. Lance Hughes was named to the second team, while Ben Bravard and Joe Towers were on the honorable mention list.

Hinote led the Rams in scoring at 16.9 points per game and made 42.90 percent of shots from the field and 71.7% from the free throw line. The junior guard hit 71 three-point shots, a new single season record for the Rams, and his three-point shooting percentage was 38.6%. Hinote also led the team in steals with 41.

Adcock, a 6′ 4″ senior post player, made 58.1% of his shots from the floor and averaged 9.6 rebounds a game, both team highs. He averaged 13.4 points per game and blocked a team best 24 shots. He hold multiple records for the six years the Rams have played as Greene County.

Hughes averaged 9.4 points per game and shot 41.8% from the field and the guard sank 34.2% of three-point tries. The junior led the team in assists at 81. He also averaged well over three rebounds per contest.

Bravard is a senior guard, who came off the bench the first part of the season before getting a starting nod later on. He averaged three points per game and hauled down almost three rebounds per game despite being listed at 5′ 11″. Coach Chris Nelson noted Bravard’s defensive play.

Towers is a senior who played the first three years of high school at Paton-Churdan. He averaged 10.3 points per game this season on 47.1% shooting from the field and 73.2% shooting from the foul line. The free throw shooting percentage led the team for players with more than a handful of attempts. Towers alsomade 37% of his shots from three-point range, and he averaged more than three rebounds and two assists per game.
